Ab Januar 1943, zur Zeit der interalliierten Konferenz von Casablanca, zog sich Hitlers Armee an vielen Fronten zur\u00fcck. Die amerikanischen und britischen Luftstreitkr\u00e4fte gingen zur „fortschreitenden Zerst\u00f6rung (…) der deutschen Armee, Industrie und des Wirtschaftssystems (…) bis zu dem Punkt, an dem ihre F\u00e4higkeit zum bewaffneten Widerstand t\u00f6dlich geschw\u00e4cht sein wird“ (Auszug aus der Casablanca-Direktive) \u00fcber. \n<\/p>\n\n

Die USAAF (Vereinigte Staaten) und die RAF (Vereinigtes K\u00f6nigreich) f\u00fchrten massive Bombenangriffe auf deutsche Industriegebiete durch. Das Ruhrgebiet war besonders stark betroffen. Auch St\u00e4dte wie Hamburg, Kassel, Pforzheim, Dresden und Mainz wurden angegriffen und fast vollst\u00e4ndig zerst\u00f6rt.<\/p>\n\n

Auch Saarbr\u00fccken wurde zwischen 1942 und 1945 stark bombardiert, was zu einer fast vollst\u00e4ndigen Zerst\u00f6rung der Altstadt f\u00fchrte. Fast 1.200 Menschen starben und rund 11.000 Geb\u00e4ude wurden besch\u00e4digt. \n<\/p>\n\n
