The White Lady is a very secret intelligence network<\/h2>\n\n

Walth\u00e8re Dew\u00e9 was the Director of Telephones of Li\u00e8ge and head of the clandestine intelligence network “La Dame Blanche” or “The White Lady” during the First World War. He died in 1944, during the Second World War, while participating in a rescue operation of one of the members of his resistance network renamed “Clarence” at that time.<\/p>\n\n

A colossal statue of the White Lady, with her finger over her mouth to symbolize the secrecy of the clandestine intelligence services, and a commemorative chapel pays tribute to this figure of the Belgian resistance. \n<\/p>\n\n

Next to the memorial lies a small path leading to Rue des Tawes, where a stone with a medallion of the hero is also a tribute to the resistance network.<\/p>\n\n

You can discover the monument thanks to the guided tours offered by the Li\u00e8ge Tourist Office. The Walth\u00e8re Dew\u00e9 memorial can also be discivered on a hike of 11km suggested by the Sentiers de Grande Randonn\u00e9e in the release of the new topo-guide GR412 – Sentiers des Terrils. This includes the Boucle des Coteaux hike, during which you can discover the nature of Li\u00e8ge. \n<\/p>\n\n
