De oorlog heeft het leven in het dorp nog niet al te zeer be\u00efnvloed. Door de ogen van de 11-jarige Chr\u00ebscht Knapp, de zoon van een timmerman, leren we zijn familie en de mensen van het dorp kennen. De meesten van hen zijn op de een of andere manier bij het <a href=\"https:\/\/www.landofmemory.eu\/nl\/sujets-thematiques\/de-weerstand-in-groothertogdom-luxemburg\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">verzet <\/a> betrokken, maar sommigen werken samen met de bezetters.<\/p>\n\n<p>Op een dag verandert alles in het kleine dorpje Chr\u00ebscht. Een inwoner werd ge\u00ebxecuteerd omdat hij had deelgenomen aan de <a href=\"https:\/\/www.landofmemory.eu\/nl\/sites-historiques\/nationaal-monument-ter-herdenking-van-de-algemene-staking\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">algemene staking van 9 oktober 1942<\/a>.
