Het fort van Tancr\u00e9mont, vroeger het fort van Pepinster genaamd, werd ingehuldigd op 8 augustus 1937. Het verschilt van de acht forten, ook gebouwd door Generaal Henry Alexis Brialmont voor WO I, door zijn compacte structuur van de kanonkoepels en de observatieposten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zijn kleine omvang, twee kilometer gaanderijen op 28 meter diepte, laat niet toe de naburige forten te ondersteunen. Maar niettegenstaande, speelde dit fort een eersterangs rol op het ogenblik van de Duitse invasie in 1940.\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

In de loop van 1940, waren er werken in het fort, waardoor het hoofdblok toegankelijk werd voor de aanvallers. Op 12 mei 1940, net na de inname van Eben-Emael, vielen de Duitsers Tancr\u00e9mont aan en vroegen de overgave. Na 10 dagen weerstand, gaf het fort zich over op 29 mei en werd zo het laatste Luikse fort dat de wapens neerlegde en dit enkel na een algemene Belgische capitulatie.\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Een bezoek aan dit fort duurt ongeveer drie uren. Aarzel niet om vrij rond te lopen om zijn groen massief, zijn kanonnen, zijn mortierblok en zijn machinegeweerblokken te bewonderen, evenals de 2000 m gaanderijen en de commandopost.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meer nog, je kan ook in het museum uniformen en alledaagse voorwerpen ontdekken evenals persknipsels uit WO II.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vergeet geen ommetje te maken langs \u201cAu vieux Trancr\u00e9mont\u201d om er de streekspecialiteit te proeven: de rijsttaart!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
