Alles begon in 1950, toen een klas van de gemeentelijke lagere school uit Latour besloot een tentoonstelling te organiseren over de geschiedenis van hun dorp. Al na enkele jaren nam het kleine streekmuseum, dat was ondergebracht in het voormalige stadhuis, het hele gebouw in beslag. En zo ontstond het museum van Baillet-Latour.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Het is een perfect museum voor een educatief bezoek, een ontdekkingsmiddag met het gezin of een groep, of gewoon een rustige ontdekking in je eentje. Het vertelt het verhaal van de familie Baillet-Latour en het dorp, van bij de Romeinse oorsprong tot aan de Franse Revolutie. In feite vind je er ondertussen niet \u00e9\u00e9n, maar twee musea. Het Oorlogsmuseum vertelt je alles over de wereldoorlogen in de Gaume, het meest zuidelijke hoekje van Belgi\u00eb, tegen de Franse grens. Het betreft onder meer het verhaal van de massamoord op 71 mannen uit het dorp Latour in 1914. Het museum brengt het verhaal van huiveringwekkende, maar ook hartverwarmende en intrigerende gebeurtenissen die tijdens de beide Wereldoorlogen in het dorp hebben plaatsvonden.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.landofmemory.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Muse&#x301;e-Baillet-Latour_Denis_Bdts-1-1-1024x684.jpg\" alt=\"Ingang van het Baillet-Latour museum.\" class=\"wp-image-3142\" width=\"376\" height=\"250\"\/><figcaption>\u00a9 Land of Memory<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<p>Sinds kort is de kerk van Latour herbestemd en opgedeeld in een culturele en museale ruimte. Je kunt er tegenwoordig tijdelijke tentoonstellingen bezoeken en concerten, conferenties en andere evenementen bijwonen. Liefhebbers van de Oudheid vinden hier ten slotte ook prachtige Romeinse overblijfselen die hergebruikt werden in het koorgedeelte van de kerk.<\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\"
