{"id":5532,"date":"2021-11-02T12:06:27","date_gmt":"2021-11-02T11:06:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.landofmemory.eu\/sujets-thematiques\/de-krijgsgevangenen\/"},"modified":"2021-11-02T12:06:27","modified_gmt":"2021-11-02T11:06:27","slug":"de-krijgsgevangenen","status":"publish","type":"sujets-thematiques","link":"https:\/\/www.landofmemory.eu\/nl\/sujets-thematiques\/de-krijgsgevangenen\/","title":{"rendered":"De krijgsgevangenen"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Zware omstandigheden van gevangenschap<\/h2>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<p>Het eerste wereldconflict zorgde voor 7 miljoen krijgsgevangenen, waarvan 2 400 000 door de Duitsers.&#13;\n<\/p>\n\n<p>Van bij het begin van de oorlog, was het hoofdkwartier van de Kaiser verrast door het aantal gevangenen (125 000 Franse soldaten in september 1914). Vanaf 1915, is men begonnen met het opzetten van kampen (bijna 300 in totaal) waarvan enkelen in het noorden en het oosten van Frankrijk.&#13;\n<\/p>\n\n<p>Koude, honger, ziektes, pesterijen\u2026 De levensomstandigheden van het gevangenschap van honderdduizenden gevangenen waren zeer zwaar. Maar, alles bij elkaar, waren de omstandigheden van deze krijgsgevangenen veel minder zwaar dan deze tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog. In een kamp verblijven betekende verzorgd worden, van eten voorzien en ten laste van de vijand wat door bepaalde soldaten als een geluk ervaren werd.
