The story unfolds in the middle of the Battle of the Bulge. American scouts, Sebastian Leder and Tom De Witt come to the rescue of Tessa, a childhood friend who is forced to make an emergency landing behind German lines near Bastogne. The young woman is a pilot in the British Air Transport Auxiliary organization, which was created to ensure the delivery of planes.
